Arthur D Cranfield
It is with regret that we have to report the passing of Arthur in July 2007. He joined the Society in 1969 from H.M.I.T. He became a Council member in 1986 until he stepped down due to poor health in 1998. No club night was without him and hence his nickname during the auctions which was ‘moneybags’. He was also a regular contributor to the EBS circuits. Once you passed his ‘approval’, he was a very good friend and gave sound advice.

The Society was represented at his cremation and all our condolences were passed onto his family.

George Degg
George joined the Society in February 1966 from the Inland Revenue at Thames Ditton. He was a Councilmember from 1971 to 1975 and again from 1982 to 1990. He was the Postal Auctioneer from 1980 to 2003, when he retired from this post due to ill health. (A brief report was made in the President’s Report with the AGM Minutes of 2003.)

He was an active member when on Council and a friend of Ivan Dunkley. During the latter years he looked after his wife until she passed on.

Les Elmore
Les joined the Society in 1953 and became a Council member from 1958 to 1968. He was a regular visitor following his spell on the Council to club nights during the 1970’s and 80’s, but gradually stopped. He passed away in May 2007. He was an easy going member who like many of his generation, gave good and sound advice when asked any questions. During the time I (Derek R) knew him no one ever had a bad word to say about him, that speaks for itself. The Society gave its condolences to his wife.
