A Message from the Head of the Home Civil Service, Sir Gus O’Donnell KCB
Many thanks for your letter of the 19th November letting me know about your Diamond Anniversary. Sixty years is indeed a real milestone and I wish you every success in the future.
Yours sincerely Gus O’Donnell 21st November 2007

A Message from our President Derek Rock
To be elected as the (13th ) Honorary President of our Society is greatly appreciated and a show of trust, during this 60th Anniversary year. In 1948, the first meeting took place in a conference room at the Treasury and these minutes are reproduced in this Bulletin. The Honorary President for our 25th and 50th anniversaries, was present at this meeting, this was Neville Jones. He did not say a lot, but when he spoke all listened. Over the years there have been many members, who have worked as a team, on the Council, covering all the posts together with the unsung supporters. These members have given their time freely and the reward was to see our Society progress, this is why we have reached this milestone. A very big thank you is given to them.

Stamp collecting and any related hobbies grow and grow; the younger generation appear at present to be not interested (perhaps their collections are in cyber space?). Like many hobbies they have ‘peaks and toughs’, at present together with many other Societies and Clubs, we are just about to climb out of the ‘trough’ and now look forward to our 75th and 100th anniversaries. I have no intention to go on and on but let our members fill the Bulletin. Thank you all for your loyal support given over the years and to those who are ‘bit under the weather’, we all look forward to your recovery etc etc.

Derek H Rock
Honorary President
