Exchange Branch Changes to the Exchange Branch and request to members for information.
Following on from the final closure of the “London” circuits C.W. and SF, new arrangements for the grouping and operation of the Exchange Branch will be put in place and will become fully operational during 2009.
From 2009 there will be three Exchange Branches. (EBs). It should be noted that at the moment all sections will be postal. It may be possible to operate a “by hand” service to some groupings who are within reach of the Exchange Branch Superintendent responsible.
1. Reg Smith Postal Colonial - Unless circumstances dictate, this service will continue to operate unchanged.
2. Derek Ward Postal “One Country” - packets are being sent out in response to specific requests for material. e.g France, Australia, also for groups of countries e.g. South America.
3. Derek Ward Postal Thematics - as in 2 above e.g. birds, aircraft.
4. Bob van Goethem Postal Spacefillers - packets will be sent in response for specific material, e.g. one country, or group of countries usually lower priced items, but packets will include PPCs, FDCs, mini-sheets, booklets any item pertaining to the requested area of interest.
The existing arrangement for responsibility for payment of return postage for packets sent out by Reg Smith will remain in operation. Packets sent out by Derek Ward and Bob van G will require the recipient to pay the return postage and obtain a certificate as proof of posting.
Over the past months CSPS Council have tried to establish a Postcode picture of where our members reside with a view to forming local loops or circuits. The objective is to have local circuits of three or more members who share similar interests and would be willing to pass packets by hand and by doing so reduce their share of the postage costs. A letter requesting information from members is in preparation and will be going out soon. Until this information arrives and has been evaluated CSPS is unable to operate in this fashion.

Exchange Branch Superintendent Reg Smith needs you Reg Smith continues to run a very successful postal Commonwealth Exchange Branch circuit but the continued success depends on a supply of books of material. If you have higher value ie non-spacefiller material to sell then now is your chance and Reg would be very pleased to receive your books. Something to be doing in the dark winter evenings?
