Early Air Mail Letter Cards for Forces 1943
Air mail played an important part in keeping the moral of the Armed Forces up especially when millions of personnel were separated from their families. Special Air Mail forms were introduced during WWII at various concessionary rates, and as time past, this service was extended to civilian use, also at the reduced rate. The letter card below left was flown on the inaugural flight New Zealand to the UK on 26th September 1943. The letter card was introduced by the New Zealand Post Office. It was censored and went at the 6d letter rate.
