Editor’s Introduction Here we go with another edition and another year so may I wish all members a belated Happy New Year. The Society is sorry to record the passing of Mr P J Pratley and Mr Pierson but we welcome to our ranks, Geoff Leece and David Wilkins as well as John Biddlecombe, who returns to the fold.
Stamp Active Network Can you spare a few stamps for this group which encourages stamp interest in children, the collectors of the future? Singles, clean pairs, on or off cover items are needed and may be dropped in to Kid’s Corner at Stampex or posted to Dave Armitage, 2 Shut Lane, Earls Colne Colchester CO6 2RE. Better items are used as auction lots or prizes.
Volunteers still urgently required Our Librarian John Dennett relinquished his post in July 2009 and we still require a new Librarian. Ideally this person needs to be a member who comes to the meetings at Somerset House to distribute books and articles, advise members on material but also to expand and add to the ‘paste-up’ folders.
The second post is that of Postal Auctioneer to take over once the 2010 Postal Auction, being processed by Derek Rock, has been cleared. A volunteer is required for the 2011 auction or this activity, which serves the wider membership not just those attending our meetings, will have to cease. The advertisement for the 2011 auction goes in the July edition of the Bulletin and so a volunteer is needed by June 2010. Please address all enquires initially to our President, Robert van Goethem.
Member’s advert If there is any member interested in Registered Labels, Denys Gage has 200 to 300 mainly from Switzerland to part with. If you would like to see if they are still available and to discuss a reasonable price, please call Denys on 01892 822136.
