Editor’s Introduction
Welcome to our January 2007 Bulletin and a belated Happy New Year to all. For those who are feeling under the weather, we wish you well.
Next year sees the Diamond Jubilee of your Society and your Council is working on plans to mark this. There has been some interest in a special edition of the Bulletin, so if any other Members would like to consider writing articles for inclusion, please let me know before the AGM as this will help your Council to make their plans. A column is around 300 words.
The Society is sorry to record the passing of Messrs J Berry, R E Carter and G Maxey. John Berry was a Council member for many years and performed a number of duties. A detailed obituary is overleaf.
We welcome our new Members and it has been nice, over recent months, to see some old faces returning to our monthly meetings and some new faces joining in. Perhaps with our Diamond Jubilee year approaching we could encourage others to join in?
Finally the closing date for items for inclusion in the July Bulletin is 8th May.
As Derek Ward says ‘Keep the stamp’ so why not make a resolution to use lots of the new issues on letters in 2007? Until the next Bulletin, keep stamping. Margaret
Parcel Scam
As reported in July, do not be taken in by a scam where you are told via a recorded message on your telephone that someone is trying to deliver a package to you. A telephone number is given to enable you to receive it or you might innocently call the number to say it is not for you. Resist the temptation as it is to a very highly charged telephone line and will cost you £10’s of pounds.
